At its regular monthly meeting, July 7, the Green Lake Co. Dems & Friends unanimously endorsed Frank Buress for the 41st state Assembly seat currently held by Republican Joan Ballweg. Buress, (shown campaigning at last week’s Marquette Co. fair is on the right in the photo to the right), and Ballweg do not have primary challengers so voters won’t get a chance to indicate their preference until the Nov. 6 genera;l election.

In announcing the endorsement, Linda Wilkens, chair of the Green Lake Co. group, said. “Frank Buress deserves our support as his stance on key issues, such as our opposition to the Republican party’s support for allowing unlimited outside money to unduly influence our elections and his support for limiting the flow of taxpayer dollars out of local school districts to pay for private schools is critical.”

Buress, whose Facebook page can be accessed here, said in learning of the endorsement, ” I am pleased that the Green Lake Co Dems & Friends has demonstrated its support for my candidacy. Its support has been there since day one and its members were instrumental in helping me gain the necessary signatures for my nomination papers in June.”

Buress participated in the July 4 parade and celebration in Green Lake last week alongside about a dozen members of the group. View photos from the parade.

Area voters will get a chance to hear from both Buress and Ballweg on Sept. 18 at a debate being hosted by Ripon College’s Center for Politics and the People.
